I switched to Logic and once I entered the advance menu and got rid of the fake wood panelling and the like, have found it to be a simple, resource efficient DAW. Mind you, 10.13.3 has been perfectly fine for me and I have no need to upgrade. Checking back on their site sometime in the summer, I did notice that they put a flag up next to the download. I reported the issued with 10.13.4 when it was released in April and heard nothing from Merging. Given that the new mini has just been released, you'll be stuck on Mojave, which in my experience, and confirmed on Merging's own website, is not at all supported. You'll find a report or two of such behavior on their forum. Actually, I've only been able to get 10.13.3 to work when upgrading to 10.13.4 found that I could get my Hapi's DAC to work, but only for a second before it glitches and screeches, and distorts. My main concern, however, would be that Merging's support for MacOS is stuck on 10.13.4.

Of course there is a limit to how much to upgrade the closer I get to iMac 27" territory. I was telling myself I’d wait for the Mac Mini Pro (holding on to i7 2012) but the M1 seems to be way more than enough for my use (coding, browsing, light photo/video editing). Hence I'm wondering if going for the faster processor i7 would be a future proofing measure that might add a few more years to it's life. The base Mac Mini ships with an Intel Core i3-8100H, which can be upgraded to either a Core i5-8400B or Core i7-8700B. I upgraded memory and processor on purchase which I'm sure is why it was still usable although beginning to struggle. I bought a MacBook Air in 2010 which died on me (liquid spill) this week. I use cloud storage so not sure the SSD is such an issue now that the base spec is 256Gb. Everything you ever wanted to know about the Mac mini (2018) Core i7 3.2 GHz - SSD 1000 GB - 32GB Mac Mini (Late 2018) Core i7-8700B 3. I don't currently edit video but as I get skilled I will be doing so but not professionally, just for student support videos. Which configuration would be a wiser choice?Ĭontext, I am a school teacher using a document scanner (Ipevo) to record instruction and upload to Vimeo.
